Texas dentists are regulated by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. The Dental Practice Act grants the board the exclusive power to issue dental licenses and to discipline dentists. The board has the responsibility to protect the dental profession as a whole as well as the general public including by potentially taking adverse actions against individual dentists.
The board’s actions are driven largely by complaints. These can often include exaggerated claims by disgruntled employees or patients who were unhappy with their bill. However, the board must at least preliminarily investigate each complaint and may temporarily suspend a dentist’s license during an investigation when it deems it warranted.
Simoneaux Law Firm protects dentists during board proceedings by seeking to dismiss frivolous complaints as quickly as possible, avoid temporary license suspensions, and working to mitigate the consequences of valid complaints. We also defend against related civil lawsuits and criminal charges.
